Dual removal and selective recovery of phosphate and an organophosphorus pesticide from water by a Zr-based metal-organic framework

Zr-based metal-organic framework [Zr 6 (μ 3 -O) 4 -OH) (OH) (H 2 O) (1,3,6,8-tetrakis( p -benzoate)pyrene) ] ( NU-1000 ) has been successfully used to remove phosphate and fenamiphos (an organophosphorus pesticide) from water solutions. In order approach practical conditions, these studies have performed under dynamic conditions in the presence of relevant interferences, such as hydrogen carbonate. The results show that is able adsorb 0.19 mol/mol phosphate, reaching a plateau after 20 min, while 0.89 captured 120 min. Afterward, three-step strategy designed, allowing quantitative recovery both anions fenamiphos, separately, ulterior adsorbent regeneration. Noteworthy, this treatment, maintains good performance toward dual removal selective desorption for at least two additional cycles. • intensive use pesticides phosphates agriculture causes important environmental damages. Phosphate, non-renewable source, an essential compound ensure food security. simultaneous capture P-pollutants by achieved conditions. designed method allows its reuse, favoring P-circular economy.
